Good Morning Note
Keeping it simple, today. Eating lean and relying on my staples. I may take a bike ride, so that means I can add a slice of whole grain bread and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter or up my oatmeal to a 1/2 cup serving with another teaspoon of maple syrup. Otherwise, I am pretty much following my routine.
Evening Update
Here is what happened, today.
I woke up hungry. I had half my breakfast shake much earlier than usual, thinking I would save the other half for later, and ended up eating my oatmeal early, too, just to satisfy that initial hunger. Later in the morning, we took a drive to an estate sale and stopped at an Amish vegetable stand where I picked up some gorgeous, garden-fresh veggies.
When we got back home, I fully intended to head out for a bike ride. Because I was still feeling quite hungry, I ate some bread and peanut butter to fuel up for the road—though I ended up skipping the ride after all. Instead, I enjoyed a fresh lunch of the garden-fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and mini watermelon.
I settled down to sew for a while, but the hunger returned quickly. Around 2:00 PM, I decided to cook my chicken meal early and wanted to incorporate the new zucchini, choosing to pan-fry it in olive oil the exact way my mom used to prepare eggplant. I enjoyed my apple and more watermelon as a snack later in the afternoon, but I was still hungry and missing a distinct crunch. Listening to that cue, I treated myself to a savory extra snack of canned pink salmon and Ritz crackers.
All day long, I felt like my body was signaling exactly what it needed—specifically fat and sodium after my recent active days. I supplied what it asked for with clean whole foods and mindful portions without going overboard. Even with the extra snacks, my total calories fell just below 1,750, which sits safely under my standard 1,800-calorie weight maintenance amount. See below for my actual food consumed.
