About Me
I am the average aging American citizen. I am 66 years old, slightly overweight and underexercised, trying to live out my remainder years as happily and healthfully as I can.
My natural food journey began two years ago when my husband was diagnosed with Deep Vein Thombosis and high blood pressure. We immediately eliminated 90% of all processed foods, added sugars, and added sodium from our diet. Within three months we had lost significant weight, reduced our blood pressure, had fewer aches and pains, and felt more mentally alert.
That was good news to the doctor, but alas, it did not last. Now here we are gaining the weight back with little energy and drive to do anything, wondering why our joints and muscles hurt. Time to get back on the wagon and do the heavy lifting of eating natural foods for the health of it.
I am creating this website to share my journey with you. To give you information, to share my triumphs, my trials, and my daily food menus and maybe find some support while supporting others. As you read the Daily Blueprint articles that contain the food menus for each day, keep in mind they are written for me to achieve my main goals:
- 1500 Daily Calorie limit. I added items to my husband’s menu to get him up to 1800 calories per day.
- Weight loss versus weight maintenance. Had I reached my goal weight, I likely would have increased by daily calorie intact.
- 45/25/30 percent split of daily intake of Carbs, Fat, and Protein.
- Aiming for 25g of fiber per day and 1200 mg of calcium per day.
I usually take a daily vitamin and at least one calcium supplement, sometimes two as I have osteoporosis and severe bone loss. I am not a fan of milk and never have been. I have lactose sensitivity and suffered a severe health crisis about 30 years ago due to increasing my intake of milk drastically. That is when I learned the truth about why I didn’t like milk to begin with. Drinking Fairlife’s lactose free milk has been a game changer because I can actually drink it without suffering a set back.
My food plan is not for everyone and it may not be for anyone but me. But if someone out there reads some of my articles and uses some of my menus with positive results, then that is good enough.
As you go through this website, you should know that I didn’t create it all by myself. I have help in the form of AI. I know, I know. I resisted at first, but then I discovered that used wisely, AI can be a helping hand. So please read the notes below and know that I am just doing my best.
If you find anything on my site in which you question, please contact me. I would be happy to look into it and get back to you. Use my contact page to get in touch.
Thanks for reading and good luck with whatever journey you find yourself on. I am here if you want to chat.
Note on My Naming System:
The terminology used here—Sunrise Fuel, First Stride, Mid-Day Charge, The Pivot, Twilight Bite, and Nightcap Bridge—was created specifically for this website. I chose not to label these blocks as standard “meals” or “snacks” because everyone has a different routine. My goal is simply to have six “eatings” per day.
